About Us

Victoria House

A Home Where Every Resident Matters

At Victoria House, we do things differently. We’re a small, welcoming care home on the Isle of Wight that puts people before paperwork, stories before statistics, and individual needs before routines. Every resident arrives with their own history, preferences, quirks, and comforts, and we make it our mission to honour all of them.

We get to know each resident properly, with the support of family and loved ones, so we can build a care plan that actually reflects who they are. From their favourite morning drink to their lifetime passions, we use every detail to create a warm, personalised experience that feels like home, because it is.

Person-Centred Support

No two residents are the same, so no two care plans should be either. We take time to understand individual needs, habits, routines, and preferences, shaping daily life around what makes each person comfortable and happy.

A Safe and Supportive Environment

Our home is designed to feel calm, friendly, and familiar. Residents have the independence to enjoy each day at their own pace, with trained staff on hand to offer support whenever it’s needed.

Compassionate, Qualified Staff

Our team is made up of kind, dedicated carers who treat every resident with patience, respect, and genuine affection. We build real connections, the type that make residents feel understood, valued, and supported.

Family Involvement

Families aren’t “visitors” here, they’re part of our community. We work closely with loved ones to understand each resident’s life story, routines, and personal preferences. That insight helps us provide care that truly feels tailored.

Life at Victoria House

We believe life doesn’t stop when someone moves into care. It simply evolves.

Each day at Victoria House is shaped around connection, comfort, and joy, whether that’s meaningful conversation, shared meals, music, gentle activities, or quiet time. We create a space where residents can feel safe, respected, and free to simply be themselves.

Why Families Choose Victoria House

Residents aren’t just cared for, they’re understood, celebrated, and looked after with genuine heart.

Our Mission

To provide a safe, caring, and nurturing home where every resident is treated as an individual, supported with dignity, and given the opportunity to live a fulfilling life surrounded by people who care deeply.

Care Manager

Donna McComb

I started working in the care sector in 2006 through work experience at school and instantly fell in love with helping people. I feel I have a true passion for helping the elderly.

Throughout my working I have taken on a variety of different roles within the care sector including a care assistant, night worker, Head of Care, Registered Manager and NVQ/Diploma Assessor, helping care staff achieving their qualifications and enabling them to progress in their own careers.

I have got a variety of qualifications Levels 2,3,4 In Health & Social Care, Level 5 Leadership in Health & Social Care. I also have Level 3 & 4 Award in Education and Training. I feel this enables me to be more supportive to colleagues.

I originally joined Victoria house in May 2023 as a care assistant and have progressed during my time there to Senior Care Assistant, Team leader and now the role of Care Manager supporting the home.

When I am not working, I am enjoying time with my family and helping as a Leader of a church-based youth group called The Girls’ Brigade. This allows me to gain more life experiences dealing with young children, helping them in every aspect of life.

Operational Manager and Nominated Individual

Claire Leggett

I have worked with the Health & Social Care sector for over 15 years in a wide variety of roles, from a Carer, Care Coordinator, Regional Trainer, Registered Manager and with new business startups across the North and South of England in both domiciliary and residential settings.

For the last 5 years I have worked as the Registered Manager of Victoria House as well as overseeing HR and Compliance in our sister home in Cornwall. I was particularly proud of my team through Covid, when we lived in the care home to protect the residents – something we will never forget – ensuring the residents were safe.

My role now is more operational, overseeing all aspects of the business for Victoria House, and I have a fantastic supporting management team.
I have my qualification in Level 5 Leadership in Health & Social Care Management, and I am currently working towards a Level 7 Senior Management qualification and CIPD in HR and People Management.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending quality time with my son Oscar and enjoy family holidays abroad.

Deputy Manager

Trudi Chamberlain

I have worked within the care sector for 17 years, I started working within the community visiting clients in their own homes and supporting them to remain as independent as possible. From there I went to working night shifts in a care home and worked my up to a Deputy Manager.

At that time I gained my level 3 in Health and social care and then my level 5 in health and social care leadership and management.

I first joined Victoria House in December 2018 as Deputy Manager, after a short break away I returned to Victoria House as Head of Care in 2023, but have now stepped back into my previous role of Deputy Manager to support the home.

Person centred care is very important to me and I believe the people we care deserve only the very best care that we can provide along with dignity and respect, in a safe and homely environment.

I am family-oriented person and live with my husband. I have two daughters, two granddaughters and one grandson and in my free time I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, as well as enjoying my garden and curling up with a good book on a quiet day.
